Honnemaradu is a lake in India. Situated on the back waters of River Sharavathi it is popular among watersports enthusiasts as a site for kayaking, windsurfing and other similar sports. It is located in Shimoga district, Karnataka about 25 km away from Sagara, on the way to Jog falls. Visitors can stay overnight, with facilities for food, shelter and equipment rentals nearby.

How to reach there:

There is no bus facility to reach the exact location. Visitors arriving by bus, must first travel to Sagar, take a bus to Jog Falls, then disembark at a place called Hiremane. From there it is a 6 to 8 km walk to Honnemarudu. Cabs to the lake can also be booked from Sagar.

Access routes to Honnemaredu: - Thalaguppa is about 15 KM to Sagar. - Bangalore - Thalaguppa - Night Bus - Bangalore - Shimoga - Thalaguppa - Night Train (U'll be wasting time here though) Travel tips for Honnemaradu: - Don't carry discardables, you'll have to collect them and bring it back - Do carry everything that the 'Adventurers' say - Do carry in addition, Sun Screen, Glucose - Whenever there is water in the reservoir i.e. round the year. But book 2-3 weeks in advance

Some interesting fatcs about Honnemaradu:

• 'Honnemardu' is supposed to be a village submerged under the Linganmakki reservoir in Shimoga district.
• The reservoir is some 80KMx50KM and you can see water until your sight gets lost. The water is pretty clean and left virtually untouched.
• If u are looking out for luxuries, then forget, Honnemaradu is not the place for u.
